For the sake of argument

I’ve decided to print out a copy of this chart and carry it in my wallet. When Republicans start to talk about fiscal policies and Democrats who “tax and spend” us into debt, I’m going to pull it out, point to the line, and walk away.

Overheard

I hear a lot of dumb things at my work. Call it an occupational hazard, if you will, but I never get used to it. “The Democrats just want to spend your money.” “I don’t see what the big deal is - if you have nothing to hide, why do you care whether or not they search your bags?” I do my best to hold my tongue - I get in enough trouble as it is.

Today in the line at Taco Bell express, the woman in front of me was discussing the crash of Flight 93 with a couple of gentleman in front of her. After discussing who they thought was in control of the plane at what point in the flight, the woman said:

“You know, we just can’t ever forget what happened to them. People up in New York don’t forget. People at the Pentagon don’t forget. But every time I hear somebody complaining about the war, I think: they forgot.”

At least she didn’t say anything about supporting the troops.

It gets very difficult to take. And I don’t even know if the people who believe these things are stupid, misinformed, or willfully misled. Who’s to blame?
