Bal­ti­more, for those not in the know, is a hotbed of blogging:

• Blog­ti­more should be your source for con­stant Bal­ti­more blog updates. A good inter­face for brows­ing, and a great selec­tion of con­tent give you hours of time-​wasting goodness.
• Shaun Inman is a con­stant inno­va­tor - just ask the host of thieves that are con­stantly rip­ping off his design. Plus, he’s the designer of my favorite T-shirt from threadless.
• Sweet­ney just returned from Blogher where she joined the Mommy Blog­ger Mafia. And in case you haven’t heard, mommy blog­gers are the new hotness.
• Matt Thomas is young, new to Bal­ti­more, and funny. Read.
• I’ve been seeing links to Cranky Mommy for months with­out adding it to my Blog­lines. Now that I real­ize that she’s a neigh­bor, she’s on the list!

Help a Switcher Out

As men­tioned pre­vi­ously, I run my pho­to­blog with Picasa and Blog­ger. It’s the fastest and eas­i­est way that I’ve found to get pic­tures up on a site. It works so well, in fact, that I con­vinced my lovely wife to use it as well.

Which, with the intro­duc­tion of all of these new Macs, is some­thing of a problem.

Picasa is Win­dows only, as is Hello, the IM client that it uses to talk to Blog­ger. I’ve looked at iPhoto which seems nice, and I’ve looked for a pho­to­blog­ging plugin for iPhoto with no luck.

Does any­body else have any ideas? Here are my requirements:

• Works with Blog­ger (prefer­ably any MetaWe­bLog API client)
• Gen­er­ates mul­ti­ple images of a stan­dard size automatically.
• Uploads files and requires a min­i­mum of hassle.

Any­thing? Anybody?

A public apology

So yes­ter­day, when I was in the midst of my CSS-​related rage (since fixed), I was curs­ing Ben and Mena in ways that would make sailors blush. And as a guy who works with sailors, trust me, I know.

But it was me, all me, that messed this up. So I offer this very public apol­ogy. I may even end up buying a license for this thing.

How­ever, I have to say that I’m not sold yet. The last CMS I used (e107) was easier to set up and came with a lot more func­tion­al­ity by default. True, I had to wres­tle it to the ground and beat it with a 2×4 to get non-​tag soup out of it, but it had a lot to offer.

So for the time being, I’m giving MT a try. With some sug­ges­tions for plu­g­ins from the blog­ger I respect most, maybe I can get this thing work­ing and look­ing good. Or at least maybe I can keep from making an ass of myself pub­licly any more.
