It’s not that difficult. I read it and concluded that:
- Garrett should have contacted Google before adding support for Analytics to Ego
- Garrett should have waited until the issue was ACTUALLY resolved before marking it resolved
- Garrett should have been expecting a little backlash for making an app that only has 5 features, costs $2 and only 80% works
- Garrett got the users he deserved when he called the app Ego and (even if in jest) marketed it for assholes (“You’re important.”)
Why are we blaming the users when the product he sold them didn’t work and it was HIS fault? We software developers are incredibly spoiled – Garrett evidently more so than most. How would this have played out for a physical object that can’t be updated as easily as an iPhone app?
