Another minimalist redesign, starting with the Zero Wordpress Theme. More tweaking to come.

  1. Nice.

  2. Lots more work to be done - not happy with the comments display, not excited about the fonts in general… need to work out a grid of some sort.

  3. Like it. I’ve always been a fan of minimal designs.

  4. You? Minimal? Sir, I’ve been to your Doctor Monkey site and seen the endless TDs. :-P

  5. jeebus. For some reason, this makes me think of the line from Futurama: “After this bowel movement, he’ll be lucky to have any bones left”.

Face it, this is your way of stripping. So does this mean you may be posting more now?

  6. Allow me to correct my statement.

Since the day I met you and was summarily stripped of what little dignity and pride I had…

    …I’ve been a fan a minimal designs. ;o)

FYI, the monkey was put down some time ago. Thanks again for teaching me the error of my ways.

  7. @jerry: Hey, it’s got gravatars! That’s not very minimal. And color! But posting more? We’ll see. The motivation here was to make the page load faster and provide less distractions from the content by removing what Tufte calls “administrative debris.” I was inspired by recent redesigns by Ryan Tomayko and James Bennett. Except I don’t have their knack for typography. :-)

@jet: You’re so much better off without dignity or pride - As Marsellus Wallace said, “Fuck pride. Pride only hurts, it never helps.” And dignity? What did that ever do for anyone? The only time anybody makes a big deal about dignity, it’s because somebody just had the shit kicked out of them.

The monkey had a number of good qualities.

  8. Oh! And I also was hoping to make a page that could be resized as easily and fluidly as possible, so it’s all “em” based with no layout images. Sizing the fonts up and down should change the layout pretty nicely.
