It’s time for another of my semi-quinquennial posts where I list every Firefox add-on I use, not so much to enlighten you, but so that I have a link to them for the next time I need to install them on another computer. Your indulgence is appreciated:

That’s just about everything I use, though some of these probably need to be culled from the list soon. Some are only there for testing, like Tabbable Toolbars, and others are only used occasionally like Tamper Data. One I left off the list is my own Auto Zoom Greasemonkey script which I put together for low vision users and isn’t much use to me yet.

So what am I missing?

  1. You’ve got several that I’ll be checking out. Here are a few that I use that you don’t:

Linkification–Turns anything that looks like a link into a clickable link.

Super DragAndGo–Click and drag any link and it opens in a new tab. Works well with the above extension.

Forecast Fox–Weather, current and two day fprecast, radar map.

Text size toolbar–Slightly easier than Control + or - because you don’t have to set the mouse down. Good for my eyes.

Translate–When you want to read what’s on those German, Russian, Portuguese, Chinese etc. websites.

Quicknote–Highlight, right click, choose send to Quicknote. Other tools do this as well or better but I’m used to this one.

Paste and Go 2–Saves one mouse click.

Allow Right Click–Some websites don’t, this makes them.

    All-in-One Search Button
    All-in-One Sidebar–Very nice

Copy Plain Text–When you want to copy and paste something from a website into Word this is often the best way to go. Less clean up in Word.

    Searchbar Autosizer–Nice.

Sorry, no links. I’m on my way out the door.

  2. Hmmm - some good stuff, including things I used to use but lost along the way.

To change sizes even easier, for me, you can hold the control key and scroll up or down with your mouse wheel. Since I always browse with my left pinky on the control key and my right hand on the mouse, this is the most natural way. Oh, and Control-0 (zero) returns to the original text size.

  3. Nice list. I use a few of these, but there are some that really made me go “ooooh!”. Definitely going to check them out.

And if you’re a Flickr basket case like me, check out FlickrFox as well.

  6. I could see Blue Organizer being useful - but I don’t know why I’d want to put SmartLinks into my blog. More helpful would be a plugin to automatically generate Amazon referral links. :-)

  7. Their firefox plug is pretty nifty too.
