Border Fence Firm Snared for Hiring Illegal Workers:

A fence-building company in Southern California agrees to pay nearly $5 million in fines for hiring illegal immigrants. Two executives from the company may also serve jail time. The Golden State Fence Company’s work includes some of the border fence between San Diego and Mexico.

Really. That’s NPR, not the Onion.

One Response to “And the world is sucked into a singularity of irony”

  1. You knew it was bound to happen, I believe someone actually said “who are they going to get to build the fence, the people we are trying to keep out of course” Seems like I heard it from Jon Stewart or something. What did you expect them to do? Pay full labor prices to americans who need jobs? Why would they do that? They are closing down all the labor industries in America and shipping them off to 3rd world countries where they can pay $1 a day for employees and still get their products made. Meanwhile, here in the state’s people are getting depressed because they have no job, turning to alcohol or even drugs to kill the pain and they taking out their anger on their spouses and children. Which eventually leads to jail or suicide. People need to start looking at the whole picture sometimes and some companies need to realize that they are killing people by moving out of the country. If there was a way to boy-cott those companies I would but there are too many of them now and I would never be able to own anything nice again. I guess that makes me part of the problem but at least I know it and would like to change it. Doesn’t that count for something?
