Not everything in moderation

Going to the carnival used to be the way most of us experienced our thrills and chills. The Tilt-a-Whirl, the Tempest, even the Ferris Wheel gave us the willies. But in the age of amusement parks, what place is there for carnival rides?

Luckily, they have carnival rides at the amusement parks. So where do they fit in? Let’s look at the Cyclone (AKA the Scrambler):

A Moderate Ride with Spins

A moderate ride with spins? That’s what’s left to the mighty Cyclone? For shame, Six Flags, for shame. That’s no way to treat a ride that has cost so many of us our lunches.

And in what way is that selling the ride? Imagine the carnival barker: “Come, ladies and gentleman, if you have the courage, if you have the intestinal fortitude, to ride the mightiest ride west of the Mississippi! That’s right, the Cyclone! A moderate ride with spins!”

Oh well. After the Star Wars movies, I’m getting used to having my childhood memories ruined.
