As an addendum to my last post, I’d like to point out that I’m going to make an effort to start using links and link text that helps Google to make sense of the web. I’ve always tried to make my links fun, and like all designers in the IC-Style, I use title attributes promiscuously. Hopefully Google will start to determine meaning from those as well.

I wish I could do more to help make sense of the web. As an example, I watched a program about motorcycle builders the other day and went looking in Google for Billy Lane As of today, you don’t get the link to his site until the fourth page. The only thing I can think to do is add a correct link in the correct format pointing to Billy Lane. Maybe that’ll help the next person who goes looking.

On a completely different topic that’s of interest to the one person who’ll understand what I’m talking about, my office asked me to help redesign two of the pages I was asked to redesign four years ago when I was hired. Ugh. I know that’s not much to go on, but if you knew what I was up against, you’d all be holding your manhoods cheap.
